"Technique offers unprecedented possibilities to extend season"

Peakfresh first appearance at Fruit Attraction in Madrid

Peakfresh is a patented technique to store fruit and vegetable products for a longer period. By adding minerals to the plastic packing the durability has at least been doubled. "This technique offers unknown possibilities in extending the seasons of fruit and vegetables or to change them" Jan van der Mey says. Jan is responsible for selling the packings on European and African markets. During the Fruit Attraction in Madrid Peakfresh will be presenting itself, together with fruit and vegetable exporter Freeland, to the Spanish public.

Red peppers after 10 days

The Peakfresh packing makes fruit and vegetables durable a lot longer than usual. Almost all fruit and vegetable varieties can be packed with Peakfresh in large bags or under pallet covers. In the plastic packing minerals have been woven, which adjust to the product inside the packing. this increases the durability with at least 100 percent. The technique also makes sure that the first ethylene gasses
are being absorbed.

Pomegranates after 4 months

Therefore pallet covers of Peakfresh are very popular at the moment. "It regularly happens that a product at arrival is a little over-ripe and not of good quality. This always costs the exporter too much money. Also it happens very often, that when fruit and vegetables are to be sent to far destinations by airfreight, as otherwise the risk of claims is far too big. Not every product tolerates a relatively long sea freight voyage. These pallet covers prevent quality problems and that is in a period in which 'claims' are a daily occurrence, very interesting" Jan says.

Broccoli after 20 days

“Peakfresh is used in abundance at the moment in the export of open ground vegetables, such as iceberg lettuce, broccoli, cauliflower and celery to the Middle East by sea freight. We are also doing well in packing cherries, with which when properly packed, we can guarantee a durability of at least 21 days. Also the packing of bananas works well in Peakfresh packing. A number of retailers already make use of them!"

The stand number of Peakfresh at the Fruit Attraction is Hall 1, Stand 1Bo4
