Ecuador’s export to Brazil has gone up by 130% this year, a rise mostly due to the sales of fresh produce, according to Ecuador’s ambassador in Brazil, Horacio Sevilla. Sevilla took the opportunity to state this at a gathering of delegates of both countries, earlier this week.
“The success is spectacular,” the ambassador said. “The sales of fruit, vegetables and flowers have gone up enormously.” Sevilla also said the community can look forward to a special event: the introduction of two exceptional Ecuadorian products on the Brazilian market, bananas and shrimps.
Presently, these two items cannot be shipped to Brazil, mostly because of sanitary reasons, but it seems these problems will be overcome before the end of this year. According to the ambassador, chances of the banana succeeding in a country already packed with bananas is high because of its “outstanding quality”.
Sevilla expressed his hope that other fresh products will be presented on Brazil’s markets in the coming years. The possibility of a commercial airlift has already been discussed between the two nations, and early agreements have been made.
