Russia: Rostov farmers collected record crop of green peas

30 centrers (1.5 tons) of green peas have been collected from each of 350 Hectares of Niva Ltd. This company is a part of an agricultural holding group, which is the northernmost complex in Russia dealing with green pea processing, together with Porechsky Canning Plant. 3.3 million cans of product collected from the farmer’s fields were produced this year, which is 1.7 times bigger, than in 2011.

All the pea fields were harvested with the help of a special harvesting machine, which was driven by young agricultural specialists, Maksim Balmasov and Nikolay Onufriev in 2 shifts during the day. The pea varieties selected in Hungary and in Crimea were arranged in such a way that after timely ripening only high-quality fresh product arrived at plants for processing.

the green pea is precious due to the high content of proteins, which is almost equal to protein content in beef. But it is easier digested than beef protein. Peas are rich with carbohydrates and micro-elements. It contains potassium, manganese, iron, phosphor salts and due to this fact is widely used in nutritional therapy.
