Germany: Kilo's of vegetables as a reward for records

The German island of Reichenau organised its twentieth international half marathon and a 10 km street walk last Sunday. Everyone was able to participate. The winners also received, along with attractive prizes, something original to the island: every person who received first prize, in each age group, was given a vegetable basket.

Other participants also had the chance to win a filled vegetable basket, regardless of their finish time. At the end of the marathon and the street walk, runners gave their start number and were entered into a draw.

The person who achieved the track record in the half marathon received their body weight in fresh vegetables. Half of their body weight in fresh vegetables was also given in the street walk to the person who achieved the track record.
