"Nico Schaft: "Peak consumption during Moon Festival"

France: First Thai longan has arrived at the 888 Fruit Company

The 888 Fruit Company in Rungis received a reefer container of fresh longan from Thailand last week. "We have been working together with a company called Boonmee, who is fully certified for this product," says Nico Schaft. The 888 Fruit Company supply this exotic in 3 kg packaging. "We will be receiving the product on a weekly basis until the end of the season, which is around the middle of October."

Longan are also referred to as dragon eye in Asia and are a distant relative of the lychee. In Asia, longan are used for many different purposes such as in soup for medicinal reasons. According to Nico Schaft, the peak consumption period for this exotic is during the Moon Festival on the 30th of September where all Asian people in Europe eat longan together.
