"Menno Molenaar: "Not too much supply results in good price"

Netherlands: Brussels sprouts all year round at Van Oers United

The Dutch Brussels sprout season started again at Van Oers United in July. The company from Ridderkerk import sprouts from Morocco from March to July, with the result that they have Brussels sprouts available all during the year. "Up to now the season looks good," Menno Molenaar says. The price of the Brussels sprouts are on a high level during the last two weeks.

"The quality of the Brussels sprouts is good and nature has provided a somewhat smaller production with the result of a reasonably good price level. At the moment demand is slightly larger than the supply and also from the United Kingdom the demand is good," Menno continues. According to the trader the Dutch area of Brussels sprouts has remained just about the same. "But the volume on the market is mainly dependent on the production of the plants and this is not too large at the moment."
