Italy: Hail storms have little impact on apple growers

In spite of alarming reports from Coldiretti, a growers association, on recent hail storms in Trentino, precisely in Levico and Caldonazzo areas, there has been very little damage.

Simone Pilati, CEO at Consortium Trentina, told Freshplaza: "The storm did hit some of our producing areas, but fortunately it was not too strong. Overall the consequences will be negligible, just few fruits with little marks on the surface."

"The quality of the ongoing harvest remains excellent -Mr. Pilati adds- indeed better than last year's. We remain positive about the 2012/13 sales season."
