Rewe builds new central warehouse in Ohlsdorf
The German retailer Rewe (Billa, Merkur, Penny, Adeg) is opening a new logistics centre in the Austrian Ohlsdorf which will supply 700 stores. The logistics centre will start being used in 2013, reports the Austrian website regionews.at.
The trade group is investing over 60 million Euro in the mega project. The central warehouse will be the second logistics junction in Austria besides the one in Wiener Neudorf. Over 200 employees will work on an area of 36,000 square metres in the future.
The plans for the project caused a stir among local residents at the beginning of 2011, they wanted an exit on the motorway for the lorries. Now an access road and a bridge over the Traun are being built, which are intended only for the central warehouse.
