Italy: It seems Psa will return after hailstorms

Serious damage to cultivation was recorded due to heavy hailstorm and cloudburst which affected the wide areas in province of Cuneo last 18th June 2012. “Hail hit here and there, causing damage to outdoor cultivations,” area managers of Coldiretti say. “Technical staff are working in the field in order to evaluate the best treatments for the affected plants.”

The most affected cultivations are the outdoor ones such as peas, beans, courgettes and potatoes but other cultivations like corn, grain and barley were harmed too. “This event damaged economically the companies which had already faced the sudden frost last spring.”

Evolution of Psa is quite worrying because it might return. “We recommend careful keeping of hail protection system.”
