Spain: Fepex analyzes fruit and vegetables sector situation

FEPEX had a meeting yesterday in Brussels, with Luis Manuel Capoulas, speaker from the European Parliament about the proposal of Parliament and Council Regulation regarding direct payments, to convey to him the main demands by the fruit and vegetable sector regarding the project and the CAP reform.

In the meeting, they analyzed the changes presented by FEPEX for the Regulation project on direct payments and highlighted the coincidence in some basic aspects for the sector, like the full inclusion of the direct payments regimen, like it is in the Regulation project presented by the European Commission to the Parliament and Council.

FEPEX exposed that by integrating this, discrimination and distortions will be eliminated in the sector's competition. Among it the fact that within the same activity there are producers that get help and others that don't get it.

There was also an agreement on the inclusion of integrated production for the ones having to fulfill the conditions to get the additional payment for beneficial agricultural practices regarding climate and environment and job inclusion as a weighting factor for associated help concession effects, that includes among the potential sectors, the fruits and vegetables one.
