Argentina: Kiwi reaches European supermarkets

Producers from La Plata were the precursors of such fruit as they provide for Argentina, Italy, Germany and the Netherlands.

The "green gold" was the name used by producers in La Plata for kiwi, by the end of the 80s, to define the product they dedicate themselves to produce. Time showed they were right. After almost 25 years not only have they multiplied their harvest by a thousand, but also provide for the internal and external market, reaching countries in Europe like Italy, Germany and the Netherlands, among others.

Even if the European crisis caused the 2012 harvest - from the end of March to the begin of April - to not be exported in the same amounts as in previous years, the exterior keeps looking for these kiwis, not only because of price, but also due to its quality, according to local producers.
