Spain: Murcia all fired up for orange exports to the U.S.

The Ministry of Agriculture and Water opens the registration of orange and clementine plots, that are destined to the U.S., this registration process will run until June 15th. According to the regional government sources in a press release, the farms which are entitled to this program must be associated with an exporting entity that accepts the conditions set out in that work plan, such as focusing in the phytosanitary control of fruit fly (Ceratitis capitata) which is a quarantine pest for these countries. The performance of this work plan will be audited and certified by entities approved by the autonomous community and the application for registration of plots will be provided to the interested parties by the Servicio de Sanidad Vegetal (Vegetable Health Service) of the regional ministry.EFE
