Belgium: Mangetout from Guatemala available at FLP Fair-Fruit

The concern FLP Fair-Fruit is a group of production and export companies, which operates in various countries. "We are active in Guatemala, Peru, Ecuador, Colombia, Burkina Faso, Mali and Ethiopia," Carl Wulfrank tells. The company has specialised in the growing and supplying of exotic fruit and vegetables. "Important products for us are mangetout and sugar snap. Because we have growers in various countries we can supply these products all year round."

"At the moment we have mangetout from Guatemala (sea freight) in the assortment and we supply these till week 25. The are available in black punnets of 12 x 250 grs. and are marketed under Magnolia brand. From week 26 to week 43 inclusive we offer mangetout from Peru (by air and sea freight) and in November and December they come from Ethiopia, after which Guatemala will be in the market again. Carl indicates, that there are plans for glasshouses in Ethiopia and to have production from May to July, but these are still in the development stage.

"All products from these countries come from our own cultivation companies or from contracted growers and are packed by our own exporting companies. It is obvious that all of these are GlobalGAP certified."

In addition to the normal punnets we can also supply in pre-printed little bags. In this case the mangetout and sugar snap are pre-washed and optically sorted at the packing company Qualipack in Meer. Together with Special Fruit FLP Fair-Fruit then offer them as 'convenience' Ready-to-Use and Ready-to-Eat greens.

Fair-Fruit will be in existence for 10 years this year and has merged with FLP in 2007. The group produce, pack and export exotic fruit and vegetables to the European and American markets.
