Aston Garberry trials extremely successful on aphid control

Aston Horticulture have been working for a number of years to develop a new product which can be used to grow crops without the use of biological control insects, the product also does not harm bees. Aston Garberry creates an environment where insects do not want to live in.

Garberry is a concentrated food grade aqueous extract of garlic supplemented with natural plant derived additives to create a plant invigorator, a prophylactic, that should be used throughout growing the crops. Insects do not like the smell and taste of garlic. Garberry helps plants to resist the adverse effects of stress and damage caused by nematodes.

In Holland, Belgium and the UK trial work being carried out on large areas has resulted in no aphids. In one trial on an area of half a hectare inside a greenhouse Garberry was used on peppers. Hugh Struth from Aston Horticulture explains that the crop is doing exceptionally well, while the rest of area had so many aphids that the grower stopped using his traditional treatments and went with Garberry for the full 3 hectares which resulted in the whole 3 hectares being aphid free.

Aston Garberry can be used on a variety of crops including peppers, cucumbers, tomatoes and strawberries. Aston Horticulture's products can also be used on turf and are used by most of the UK's premier football clubs.

The product is certified by the soil association and can be used on organic as well as conventional crops.
