UK radish harvest on schedule

The UK radish harvest has started in earnest, the warm weather earlier in the year brought the harvest on but the recent cold spell slowed things down again. The result being a pretty normal radish season so far.

Antonia Galloway from G's Fresh says its too early to predict the whole season but things are going according to plan. The Round Red and French Breakfast varieties are already being harvested and the purple radish will start in the first week of May.

G's Fresh also offer a rainbow selection, which according to Antonia can really put the colour into a classic salad. "The different colours have various levels of pepperyness giving people the chance to try the different radishes, they are also a big attraction for kids and encourage them to eat the healthy vegetable".

G's Fresh's growers are situated in Norfolk, where the deep peaty soil is ideal for radishes. The area is officially in drought but Antonia believes that with good water management and a bit of luck with the weather this will not be a problem.

G's Fresh supplies all the major retailers in the UK and also wholesalers under the G's Fresh brand name.
