US: RedLine Solutions announces PTI Symposium

RedLine Solutions have announced a symposium series focusing on the current state of the PTI, the Produce Traceability Initiative. These events will be held in key growing regions throughout the United States.

Leading retailers and food service companies are starting to ask for PTI compliance now. Companies are actively evaluating their internal processes and working to find the best way to meet the coming requirements. Those who don’t respond are likely to be left behind as retailers shift business to companies who provide PTI case labeling. PTI compliance affects all companies through the supply chain, not just the packer. All companies handling product from the time it is packed until it is received by a retail store or food service operator must be able to trace the GTIN and Lot ID back to the source lots for the products they handle.

This educational event will cover everything you need to know to get started developing your PTI implementation plan, and get your questions answered.

Gary Fleming, RedLine’s Vice President Strategic Services will provide a brief overview of the PTI and the associated timeline. He will shed light on the GS1 standards which are the foundation of the PTI, and explain how they apply to PTI. He will share best practices for PTI including case and pallet labelling.

Todd Baggett, Co-Chair of the PTI Technology Working Group (TWG) and RedLine’s CEO, will discuss why PTI matters, and show how implementing PTI can provide operational improvements to your organization. He will also provide an update on current regulatory changes and their impact on the fresh produce industry.

Chris Davis, RedLine’s COO, will review what is required for PTI compliance, and explain some of the challenges of implementing PTI in the field and the packing shed. He will share lessons from production deployments across many commodities, and will demonstrate RedLine’s solutions available today to help companies achieve PTI compliance.

RedLine’s PTI Symposium series is currently scheduled to be in Salinas, California on April 26, in Delano, CA on May 24, in Ellensburg, WA on June 5, and in McAllen, TX the week of June 11. More cities are being added to the schedule.
