Chilean cherries are not the only fruit in this situation, mangoes from the Southern hemisphere are also reaching China in increasing volumes. This week, mangoes are coming in from Ecuador, Peru and Australia. This Friday, newly arrived mangoes were sold for 370 RMB, but the sales speed wasn't very high. The Ecuadorian mangoes that have been supplied for about a month now, are also going down continuously. Australian mangoes are mostly sold after a second selection in China. This assures that the mangoes are all equally ripe. The price for these mangoes is still the highest.

Apart from the large fruit cases mentioned above, the pears from the Netherlands and the US are also going on sale. Compared to the American pears, Dutch pears haven't had access to the Chinese market for a long time. The varieties that are mainly arriving in China are 'Jaguar' and 'Fruitmaster'. Since pears belong to the category of fruits that only become ripe after a while, consumers usually have to wait a few days after buying until the pears are ready to eat. The pears can only be eaten after they have become soft. Chinese consumers on the other hand are used to fruits that are firm and juicy. It will require a considerable period of time to overcome these differences in consumption culture.
