Despite reports of crop damage due to floods, Devaraja Market traders have ruled out the possibility of spike in prices of onions.
An onion trader at Mysuru's Devaraja Market, told SOM that since there is uninterrupted supply from local farmers, the question of increase in prices does not arise. At present, it is sold at Rs. 25 per kg for big size onions and Rs. 12-15 for medium and small sizes.
The same trader said that large stocks of onion from Maharashtra are coming to Mysuru APMC and these are likely to be gone next month. After that, fresh stocks from Hubballi and Chikkamagalur are expected to arrive in the next couple of months.
