Kazakhstan's Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of National Economy, Serik Zhumangarin, met with Khodjamyrat Geldimyradov, Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan, to discuss economic cooperation and expanding trade in fresh produce.
In the first nine months of 2025, Kazakhstan imported fruits and vegetables from Turkmenistan, with tomato shipments exceeding 30,000 tons, making them the second-largest imported product after natural gas. Zhumangarin emphasized: "We are keen to have fruits and vegetables on our market. Everything you supply, tomatoes, fruits, vegetables, we are ready to accept under the 'green corridor'".
Kazakhstan also exported $221.7 million worth of industrial and agricultural products to Turkmenistan, with agro-industrial goods consistently accounting for over 30% of total exports.
The meeting highlighted the importance of logistics and transport infrastructure to support trade, including a planned dry port on the Turkmen-Afghan border and the potential Kazakhstan–Turkmenistan–Afghanistan–Pakistan transit corridor. Both sides confirmed their commitment to strengthening trade ties and improving access to fresh produce.
