The first Styrian early apples were harvested at the end of July this year. This means that this year's harvest start was average to slightly delayed compared to previous years. The main harvest traditionally begins with Elstar and Gala, which are now gradually coming into full swing at the end of August. "Quantities and quality are very positive so far. Despite a prolonged dry spell in the spring, the fruit developed well thanks to favorable weather conditions from June onwards – color, firmness, and sugar content are particularly impressive," reports Roland Rosenzopf of EVA Handels GmbH.
Overall, the subsidiary of the producer organizations OPST GmbH and EOS GmbH expects good yields and a correspondingly strong harvest in terms of quality. Rosenzopf: "The fruit parameters indicate good storage stability. Following the poor harvest in 2024, growth is naturally being recorded for all varieties, particularly for Gala and Kanzi. But our other club varieties – Evelina, Tessa, and Rockit – are also showing stable volumes and indicate very good quality."

EVA Handels GmbH will once again be represented this year in Hall 8 alongside its colleagues from obst.partner with their organic line Von Herzen.
Confidence after a difficult export season 24/25
The overall poor harvest last year (24/25) meant that the transition from the old to the new harvest was not entirely smooth. "Sales of older produce were completed early, especially in the case of Gala. On the other hand, early sales create the best conditions for a good start to the new harvest. The export balance for the 2024/25 season is mixed: Frost damage in the previous year led to significantly reduced export volumes. International interest in EVA brand apples and products remained strong, but in an increasingly competitive environment," said the sales company representative.

Styrian fruit producers are expecting a good harvest in 2025.
The latest WAPA figures show a slightly below-average apple harvest across Europe. Rosenzopf goes on to explain that this creates fundamentally positive conditions for the Styrian apple industry. "Styria continues to hold its own in European competition as a quality supplier with long-term delivery capabilities. In addition, we expect greater demand for apples in our neighboring markets, which are characterized by reduced harvest volumes this year. With our revitalized brand identity, we are now starting the new season with a fresh 'Tempted? Eva.' design and a lot of energy, and we intend to actively leverage potential."

Exports to Spain are trending upward
At the start of the new export season, EVA Handels GmbH is once again exhibiting at Fruit Attraction in Madrid alongside its colleagues from obst.partner and their organic line "Von Herzen". The three-day trade event has grown in importance in recent years. "Fruit Attraction is a key fixture in the trade fair calendar for us and our owners. Not only does it provide a platform for doing business in the Spanish market, but it is also of significant importance in an international context. Exports to Spain have developed positively in recent years. In addition to our standard segment, we have also been able to expand our product portfolio for Spanish customers in a targeted manner."
