Germany's statistical office has reported that the country's apple harvest in 2025 is expected to be above average, based on estimates from July. The harvest season runs from August to November. Weather conditions this year were favorable, with mild temperatures during flowering and no frost or hail in most production regions.
According to the data, German orchards are projected to harvest 1,009,000 tons of apples in 2025. This would be the first time since 2022 that production exceeds 1 million tons. The forecast represents a 3.9% increase compared to the ten-year average of 970,500 tons and nearly 16% more than the 2024 harvest.
Growers also anticipate that yields for plums will be higher than the ten-year average.
More than 60% of Germany's apples are cultivated in two federal states. Baden-Württemberg in the south accounts for around 11,600 hectares (27,000 acres), while Lower Saxony in the north covers 8,400 hectares.
