"New parent company for New Zealand apple brand"

New Zealand pipfruit and cherry producer Kiwi Crunch has announced the establishment of a new parent company, Consolidated Fruits Ltd, as part of a structural reorganisation to bring together its group of premium fruit businesses.

Consolidated Fruits Ltd will serve as the umbrella organisation for three established New Zealand fruit brands: Kiwi Crunch, CAJ, and Prunus Orchards. Together, the companies manage over 880 hectares of orchards, producing more than 35,000 tons of apples, 180 tons of pears, and 750 tons of cherries annually.

According to James Bennett, Sales Manager at Consolidated Fruits Ltd, the formation of the new entity aims to streamline operations and improve coordination across the group's activities. "Bringing our brands together under one parent company allows us to better coordinate our operations and support our supply chain," he said.

Kiwi Crunch, based in Hastings, grows, packs, and exports approximately 1.2 million cartons of apples and pears each year to more than 30 countries. CAJ, located in Central Otago, produces around 800,000 cartons of apples and pears annually, with its exports managed by Kiwi Crunch's marketing and export teams. Also based in Central Otago, Prunus Orchards manages 132 hectares of cherry orchards, most of which use the planar cordon growing system, known for producing large-sized fruit.

Operations at Kiwi Crunch, CAJ, and Prunus Orchards will continue unchanged, with the new structure primarily affecting internal administrative functions and group identity. As part of the reorganisation, the company's head office has relocated to Level 1, 17 Falcon Street, Parnell, Auckland. A new company website has also been launched.
