More volumes expected this apple season

"I've not heard about major impact from floods on Polish apple production"

Despite the floods happening in Poland, the production is still expected to increase overall, says Mohamed Marawan, owner of Polish apple exporter Sarafruit: "Although there have been floods in some areas in Poland, not all areas were affected. I've not heard anything in regards to effects on Polish apple production from this flooding, thankfully. I actually expect this season to be a better one than last year. In the previous season, there was only one area in Poland that was able to produce a healthy amount of apples, which resonated through the entire season."

According to Marawan, last season's apples were mostly produced in a single area in Poland. This year, more regions overcame the weather conditions, meaning more apples will be available this year. "This season should be very different. There are at least three major apple-producing areas that have not been significantly affected by the frosts and other weather conditions. As such, we should have a much better production of apples in the coming season."

Preparations for the new season are already underway, as the owner of the Polish apple exporter is in Egypt to discuss contracts with the local supermarkets: "Currently I'm in Egypt on business, to prepare for the upcoming season. I'm in the process of setting up contracts with Egyptian supermarkets. They are very open to discussions and require more apples, which I'm confident we can supply this year. Our new warehouse has also been finished, which means it's a good opportunity to store our apples there from now on," Marawan concludes.
