The Cabildo of Lanzarote, via the Department of Agriculture and Livestock, announces the application deadline for the "Subsidies for Operating Expenses in Agricultural Holdings" for 2025. Approved by the Governing Council, details are published in the Official Gazette of the Province of Las Palmas (BOP).
A total of 50,000 euros is allocated to mitigate expenses faced by farmers in Lanzarote and La Graciosa. The initiative, part of Line 410-10, addresses inflation in materials, services, and transport costs exacerbated by double insularity. Oswaldo Betancort, president of the Cabildo of Lanzarote and councilor of the Area, emphasizes, "These aids are intended to cover the overcosts of the sector and contribute to the maintenance of an agricultural landscape that is part of the environmental and cultural value of our islands." Betancort further notes that supporting the primary sector also supports landscape and culture.
The subsidy finances up to 70% of expenses, with upper limits of 3,500 euros for professional farmers and 1,050 euros for amateur farmers. Eligible expenses include material purchases, external services like water transport, machinery, technical advice, and personnel hiring.
Eligibility extends to individuals or entities conducting agricultural activities in Lanzarote or La Graciosa, registered with sector-related bodies like REGEPA, ROPO, REAC, REGOE, the Regulatory Council of D.O. Wines of Lanzarote, or the Tax Agency's Census of Agricultural Entrepreneurs. The process follows a competitive concurrence regime, giving priority to professional, young, and organic farmers, requiring a minimum of 3,000 square meters of land area and an expenditure of 1,000 euros.
Applications, accepted for fifteen working days, can be submitted at the Island Agricultural Service offices or via the Cabildo of Lanzarote's online portal.
