Belarus allocates approx €280M to boost fruit and vegetable storage infrastructure

In a move to strengthen its agricultural sector, the Belarusian government has increased funding for the national "Agribusiness" program in 2025, earmarking an additional Br1 billion (approximately €280 million) for the construction, reconstruction, and modernization of fruit and vegetable storage facilities.

The subsidies will be available to both state-owned enterprises and companies with more than 50% government ownership. In addition to supporting storage infrastructure, these funds can be used for planting and developing orchards and berry plantations. The funding is part of a broader effort to enhance off-season storage capacity and stabilize the domestic supply of fresh produce.

Under the revised program, subsidies will be granted from 2025 through 2040 to cover part of the interest on loans issued by the Development Bank of the Republic of Belarus.
