Over the past six months, Georgia exported 12,900 tons of apples worth $8.2 million, marking a 6.3-fold increase in volume and a 6.1-fold increase in value compared to the previous year.
Russia remains the primary market, receiving 99% of Georgia's apple exports (12,840 tons). Smaller shipments were also sent to Kazakhstan, Armenia, and Turkey.
The export season began in August 2024 with autumn apple varieties such as Golden, Antonovka, Start, and Sinap. The main apple-growing regions in Georgia are Gori, Kareli, and Kaspi.
Fruit exports are a key sector of Georgia's economy. To support producers, the government subsidizes apple purchases, providing $0.03 per kilogram.
