"Our catalogue covers the entire range of pumpkins, with all the segments that the market may require," explains Samuele Pellegrini, General Manager of Levantia Seed. "In this edition, we also wanted to illustrate our approach to research and varietal selection, which includes tackling agronomic challenges head-on, introducing important resistances, and improving the productivity and organoleptic qualities of these extraordinary vegetables. Each variety is accompanied by its specific use depending on the type of flesh, whether soft, dry, or extra-dry. What is more, we have already laid the foundations for the introduction of new types in the future."
Reddy F1
The Kabocha type remains at the heart of Levantia Seed's offer thanks to its recognised organoleptic and production quality.
"Our varieties are tested for three years before marketing, to guarantee farmers a reliable product and high performance," emphasises Pellegrin.
In addition to leading varieties such as Dulcimaks F1, the queen of the market, and Dulcistore F1, recognised for its long shelf-life, KG84 F1 features among the new additions: a semi-bush plant, compact and with fruits well protected by foliage, suitable for colder climates and perfect for early or late production. KG65 F1 stands out instead thanks to its harmonious fruit shape and superior sweetness of the flesh, a feature that is highly appreciated by consumers.
Hambra F1
One of the most interesting introductions of 2025 is Hambra F1, a butternut type that combines high yields and fruit quality, and which is resistant to cracking even under difficult climatic conditions. The variety maintains a firm and compact flesh, ideal for extended storage and perfect for the fresh market and processing.
Levantia Seed's flagship pumpkins include Vanity F1, a grey-skinned variety with a pleasant chestnut flavour, and Reddy F1, with a bright orange flesh and a pleasant hazelnut flavor - they represent the pinnacle of varietal selection and are ideal for the premium market.
"Vanity addresses the premium segment with its extra-dry flesh, while Reddy, characterised by soft flesh, responds to the demand for a versatile product both at home and in restaurants. Levantia Seed has registered the two brands: a further added value for those who choose to grow and market these pumpkins."
Levantia Seed has also expanded its range of festive pumpkins, introducing new shapes and colours to meet the needs of theme parks, schools, and individuals. "This is a booming market, and we want to offer customers the widest choice possible."
The 2025 catalogue includes over 40 varieties of ornamental pumpkins, which are increasingly used in garden centres, shops, theme parks, and... also the homes of Italians. "Ornamental pumpkins are becoming an actual autumn decoration, similar to flowers in their ability to convey colour and liveliness to an environment," concludes Samuele Pellegrini.
