The operational mushroom business of Integra Hoyerswerda gGmbH will cease operations on May 31, 2024. This was announced by the Saxony-based company headquartered in Hoyerswerda last Friday. "Due to the enormous cost explosions in recent years and the currently unenforceable price increases in the wholesale segment, it is no longer justifiable to continue operations economically," a company spokesperson said.
Integra's Managing Director, Robert Rys, explained that they see no other option. The cost of production has reportedly increased by 30 percent, largely due to increases in energy costs. On the other hand, they have not been successful in passing the increased costs on.
Integra Hoyerswerda GmbH was founded in the fall of 2013 and originated from the original Integra Lausitz GmbH. Since January 1, 2019, Integra Hoyerswerda gGmbH has been operating as a subsidiary of Lausitzer Werkstätten gGmbH. The company's product range includes fresh organic shiitake, organic king oyster mushrooms, and organic beech mushrooms, as well as dried porcini, oyster mushrooms, shiitake, and chanterelles from certified organic cultivation.
