Tomatoes are by far the most consumed vegetable in Germany

Conscious eating is trendy, and not just in the context of Veganuary. The consumption of fresh and processed vegetables in Germany has once again gone up last year - to a total of 109 kg per capita. Tomatoes have once again secured their spot as the most popular vegetable in Germany.

The top 10 vegetables in Germany (kg/per capita):

1. Tomatoes (31.3 kg)

2. Carrots, beetroots (11.5 kg)

3. Onions (9.0 kg)

4. Cucumbers (7.5 kg)

5. Lettuce (5.7 kg)

6. White cabbage, red cabbage (4.7 kg)

7. Savoy cabbage, Chinese cabbage, kohlrabi (2.5 kg)

8. Beans (2.2 kg)

9. Mushrooms (2.0 kg)

10. Cauliflower, kale, broccoli (2.0 kg)
