Zépé®️ is the name of the new seedless ("ZEro PEpin", in French) grape range created by Cavaillon-based producer and shipper Mesfruits. Mainly known for its apple and pear activities, the company has decided to rely on its experience acquired over 4 generations to launch into the production and marketing of new seedless grape varieties: "In creating Zépé®️, we wanted to offer a range that perfectly combines flavor, freshness, and practicality, while being 100% French! Growing grapes also enables us to diversify and adapt to global warming, as this crop is highly resistant to heat", explains Léa Mestre, Marketing Manager at Mesfruits.
The range now comprises three grape varieties, which will be successively grown throughout the season: "Our ruby-colored grapes are characterized by their generous berries and intense, sweet notes. Then there are the crisp, refreshing white grapes, and finally the antioxidant-rich black grapes. With something for every taste!"
Started in 2019, the seedless grape project came to fruition with an initial planting in the orchards. "The varieties quickly adapted to our Provencal climate. Following this, new plantings were made, and today the grapevines are in production. As a result, Mesfruit is now able to offer a complete range of conventional varieties - with a harvest potential of 200 tonnes for this season - as well as organic varieties, marketed since 2021 with the same harvest potential.
Since the end of July, the earliest varieties of seedless grapes have been available for the season, which will run until the end of September. "Each bunch of grapes Zépé®️ is carefully selected to guarantee optimum taste quality for the consumer. The grapes are harvested when ripe and shipped the same day, ensuring optimum freshness and firmness. In addition, the grapes are carefully packed in trays or crates, which preserve their freshness until they reach the consumer's table".
