More than 70% of the products that Lidl purchased in Andalusia came from Almeria, Seville, and Huelva.
Lidl's fruit and vegetable purchases stand out among the purchases it makes in Andalusia. Specifically, 75% of all the purchases that Lidl made in the community in 2022 corresponded to fruits and vegetables, consolidating it once again, as the number one customer of Almeria's and Andalusia's agricultural sector.
Currently, the firm mobilizes more than 1,830 million euro a year for the acquisition of items from the region that, together with the accumulated investment they've carried out since 2020, exceeds 4,760 million euro.
This growth, which responds to Lidl's determined support for producers in the area, has also made it possible to strengthen its strategy of collaborating with local companies. Thus, during this period, the company has increased the number of Andalusian suppliers with whom it collaborates on a recurring basis by about 50% and currently works with nearly 110 of them.
Lidl Stiftung, the head of the Spanish subsidiary Lidl Supermarkets, already exports more fruits and vegetables than Almeria's entire greenhouse sector. In 2022, this platform sent to its 12,000 stores distributed throughout Europe agri-food products worth 3,084 million euro, according to the latest data published just a few days ago by the German distribution giant.
According to Cajamar's report, in the last campaign, Almeria's marketing companies reached foreign sales of 2,976 million euro.
