Launching clear, sustainable packaging for mushrooms

Highline Mushrooms, a grower of organic mushrooms, is addressing plastic concerns by taking significant steps toward sustainability. Recognizing the urgent need for environmental advancements and the well-being of future generations, the grower is committed to finding better and more environmentally friendly solutions today.

Innovation and scientific advancements are at the forefront of the ongoing quest for sustainable packaging solutions. Highline Mushrooms has launched its transition to rPET (recycled polyethylene terephthalate) clear plastic tills as part of its commitment to a circular economy. This transition showcases the company's dedication to the visual quality of mushrooms while minimizing the environmental impact of packaging. By using rPET, which is made from recycled PET plastics, the grower contributes to increased recycling efforts in the industry and across North America.

"Quality, consistency and value are the top of mind for consumers today. As prices go up and the environment is being impacted, we can shift to recyclable packaging that completely showcases the product inside. We want to delight consumers from the moment they reach for a pack of our mushrooms right through to their last bite, so this is a win all around!” said Jose Cambon, CEO.

Highline Mushrooms is thrilled to participate in the Organic Produce Summit 2023, where the company will showcase its sustainable packaging solutions. Visit booth #516 to explore the wide range of organic mushroom products on display in the newly introduced rPET clear tills. The grower encourages partners to engage in discussions about sustainable packaging practices and witness its commitment to environmental stewardship, innovation and meeting the demands of its partners.
