Turkey remains the primary supplier of fruits to Ukraine

Ukraine is dependent on imports of fruits and nuts from abroad. Turkey remains the primary supplier of these products, from where 220,000 tons of fruits were imported last year. Citrus fruits and bananas are the most popular fruits in Ukraine, accounting for 60% of the import value in 2022.

Ukrainian companies have also made significant purchases of fruits from Ecuador, while smaller volumes were imported from Greece, Colombia, Spain, Costa Rica, and Egypt. These seven countries accounted for 69% of the total value of fruit and nut imports to Ukraine in 2022.

According to the State Customs Service, in 2022, the import volume of fruits and nuts was $663 million, which is 21% less than in 2021. The largest share of foreign agricultural product imports to Ukraine in 2022 was for citrus fruits, bananas, and other exotic fruits such as avocados, pineapples, persimmons, kiwis, grapes, and stone fruits.
