Ad Pollux buys Eurofresh shares from Pascal Rutten and Hans van Pol

"This company fits me like a glove"

In 1999, Ad Pollux co-founded the Dutch company, Eurofresh - then part of Veiling ZON - with Ton Rutten and Marcel van Eeuwijk. In the years that followed, Ad pursued a career elsewhere in the fruit and vegetable sector. But last year, he made his comeback at Eurofresh, which led to him buying Pascal Rutten and Hans van Pol's shares on Tuesday, January 3. "This company fits me like a glove," Ad says.

"Last year, I heard that Eurofresh was quietly being offered for take over, which immediately piqued my interest. I've always considered it a great company that does business in which I've always been active. It has a nice supplier network that we've used for years. A wonderfully loyal team completes the picture."

Pascal had already stepped down from Eurofresh as Director. Hans will remain as Head of Administration and support Ad. As of 2023, Ad is thus Eurofresh's sole director/manager. "The rest of the team remains intact, and together, we're confident and ambitious about the future," Ad states.

Will he change anything? "You always have to move with the times and market, but I'm not going to do anything dramatically different. We have a great foundation and are going to build on that. Continuing to deliver the best quality in all areas is and will remain the 'Team Eurofresh' motto. Cash&Carry has a bright future if you deliver quality and the right price. We're a wholesaler where you can buy even small volumes. We're proud of that. All those little customers together make a big one."

"We offer a total assortment but are particularly strong in greenhouse and open field vegetables. Clients know that. We earn about 65% of our turnover in Germany and the rest in the Netherlands, where there's a noticeably growing demand. For example, an increasing number of regional hospitality buyers are finding their way to Eurofresh," Ad concludes.
