The wet and rainy summer season in Zimbabwe has arrived leading to producers in outlying areas struggling to deliver fresh produce to markets, which causes a shortages and increased prices.
The heavy rains lead to muddy roads that are difficult to traverse to get the fruit and vegetables from rural areas in the north of Zimbabwe to the Mbare Musika market. Traders say the inability to deliver to markets plays a big role in the supply and demand with prices already trending upwards.
