This week, the first Calinda arrived at Special Fruit's packaging warehouse in Huelva, Spain. "The variety is now well-known. It balances great flavor, a beautiful shape, and long shelf life. And it's increasingly gaining the trust of growers in Huelva," says a Special Fruit spokesperson. This season, Calinda is the fourth largest variety of the entire strawberry crop.

Special Fruit will officially begin its seventh Calinda season at the end of December. "We then expect the first limited volumes of these tasty strawberries. Our partner growers offer these." Special Fruit is a launching partner of the Calinda variety.
And 2022 promises to be another great strawberry season. That is thanks to years of collaboration and expertise, "We're already looking forward to a crunchy period of top strawberries. That should reach the 5 million kg mark," says the representative.
This year, the Andalusian Institute of Agricultural and Fisheries Research and Training took a close look at Spanish strawberries. The Calinda variety - compared to other Huelva varieties - was again the healthiest. It has the highest vitamin C and antioxidant content.
These are the Calinda's advantages:
- Intense, sweet flavor
- Unique form and color
- Firm bite with soft, juicy flesh
- Long shelf-life; less waste = more profit
- Healthiest Huelva variety
- Integrated supply chain managed by Special Fruit Spain and Belgium
