Watermelon for early and extra-early cycle from BASF that sets perfectly under adverse weather conditions

"With Bengala F1, we offer peace of mind and security to the growers"

Bengala F1 is a variety recommended for early and extra-early greenhouse transplants (from late December to February 20) that, after almost 10 years in the market, continues to lead this segment. Bengala F1 stands out for its great fruit set capacity with low temperatures, short days, and even in cloudy and rainy conditions. "It functions perfectly in these adverse weather conditions," said Mercedes Fernandez, BASF's Watermelon Sales Specialist, who highlighted the high yields achieved.

The Bengala F1 fruits are homogeneous, weighing between 6 and 8 kg, and do not suffer hollowheart, which is common when great temperature fluctuations are recorded during the growing cycle. Internally, their flesh is deep red, with a great taste and hardly any streaks.

"In the end, we bring peace of mind and security to the farmer," says Fernandez.

Bengala F1 + Kalanda F1: a perfect combination
Kalanda F1 is BASF's micro-seeded pollinator for the early greenhouse segment. It has the same external appearance as the Premium F1, but with a larger caliber, weighting between 3 and 4 kilos. With this variety, "we offer the market the necessary caliber in the early cycles with a pollinator that does not suffer hollowheart and that, combined with the Bengala F1, improves its commercial yield," since it pollinates it perfectly.

With Bengala F1 and Kalanda F1, BASF offers a comprehensive solution for the early and extra-early cycle of greenhouse watermelons, maintaining the crop's high quality standards and ensuring the satisfaction of all links in the agri-food value chain.
