Russia and China to discuss possibility of resuming pome and stone fruit import

According to the Russian Animal and Plant Inspection and Quarantine Service, they will begin discussions with Chinese representatives in August on the possibility of resuming the import of pome, stone fruit and citrus crops.

The Service suspended the import of stone fruit and pome crops from China from August 10, 2019 in view of the supply not conforming to Eurasian Economic Union quarantine standards. From January 6, 2020, similar measures have been implemented for citrus exports.

The Service and the General Administration of Customs of China agreed to conduct routine negotiations on these issues in August. In addition, in response to the possibility of reaching an agreement on the draft protocol to export alfalfas to China, the Service stated that China started to study the files from April 2021. According to the General Administration of Customs of China, comments on the draft will be submitted to the Service in the near future.
