Lamb Weston is an American French fries manufacturer. This company plans to build a new factory. It's to be in Ulanqab in China's Inner Mongolia province. "The French fries category is poised for global growth," says Tom Werner, President and CEO of Lamb Weston.
"And China remains an important market for us. This investment is in in-house production for the Chinese market. It's a clear example of our commitment to our strategic customers. We want to support their future growth plans too."
Capacity expansion
The new French fries processing plant will have the capacity to produce more than 250 million pounds of frozen fries and other potato products annually. The facility is expected to provide about 280 full-time jobs. It will also add to Lamb Weston's existing production in China. The Company has a plant in Shangdu, Inner Mongolia, too.
The new factory is expected to be completed in the first half of the company's 2024 fiscal year. It should cost around $250 million.
Lamb Weston is also active in Europe. In the Netherlands, it has a joint venture, Lamb Weston Meijer. This company has four branches in that country. This joint venture has two more factories. These are in the United Kingdom and Austria.
