This summer, sales went remarkably well for the wholesaler. “Until mid-July it was just very good, we’ve now had about three weeks of calmer holiday weeks, but we definitely can’t complain, and we’re expecting to be at full capacity again soon. All in all, everything was better than expected,” says Corné Roks of Fresh2You from Barendrecht, the Netherlands.
The importer, exporter and cash&carry wholesaler moved into a new building with 5,000 square metres of cold store at the Dutch industrial estate, and according to Corné, the wholesaler has settled into the new building well. “Customers know how to find us. The principal products in our range are bananas, citrus and vegetables, although we’re constantly expanding our assortment.”

“The melon market went slightly less well for a number of weeks. Prices of bananas, on the other hand, remained at surprisingly good levels. Spain continued with oranges until late July, and that’s exceptionally long. We’ve now switched to South African citrus, and that demand continues to be good. Stable prices are expected for the South African citrus in the coming weeks,” says Rob Langenberg, who is responsible for import for Fresh2You.
“Vegetables like Dutch green beans and vine tomatoes, which are fairly large products regarding volume for us, also sold well. We now have to deal with the effects of the warm days of about four weeks ago. As a result, the outdoor vegetables suffered quite a bit. Cauliflower was quite scarce in recent weeks, but spinach and endive are also limited in their volumes because of the heat,” Corné concludes.
