Spain: Miura investment fund takes a stake in Frutas Esther

The Barcelona-based investment fund Miura Private Equity has taken a stake in the Murcian company Frutas Esther, one of the largest agro-food companies in the Region of Murcia, with a turnover of 80 million Euro and an EBIDTA of 7 million Euro. The agreement had been negotiated since at least September 2018.

Frutas Esther is specialized in the production and marketing of stone fruit, table grapes and strawberries, and exports account for around 80% of its production.

Despite the investment fund's move, Frutas Esther's current management team will continue to lead the company. The Gómez family, which founded the company, and the Chacón family, which also owns a stake in the firm, will remain partners.

For the pre-agreement, Frutas Esther has received advice in legal and tax matters from a team specialized in the agro-business sector of Garrigues, and in financial matters from the consultants EY and PWC. The operation will be finalized in the coming months.
