During an event on June 28, Tainan City Mayor Huang Wei-che showcased mango ice cream preparation in a Singapore supermarket, highlighting the growing demand for Tainan's mangoes. Singaporean supermarkets have increased their orders for the fruit by sixfold compared to the previous year, now incorporating three varieties. Mayor Huang underlined the necessity of maintaining high-quality standards for the produce, catering to the affluent Singaporean market's expectations.
The availability of Taiwanese mangoes has expanded beyond CS Fresh and Giant stores, with online platforms like RedMart and Shopee offering the fruit and specially curated gift boxes. This initiative is part of Tainan's broader strategy to boost the export of its mangoes, aiming to enhance the consumption of various Taiwanese fruit types in Singapore and provide additional revenue streams for local farmers. Taiwan, already exporting mangoes to Japan and South Korea, is in discussions to commence exports to the United States within the next two years.
