Heavy rains damage banana plantations and other crops in Rayalaseema

Moderate to heavy rains lashed the state of Andhra Pradesh at isolated places over Nellore, East Godavari, Krishna, Prakasam, Chittoor and Kadapa districts on Sunday.  Cyclone Mandous uprooted trees in parts of Rayalaseema and caused damage to the standing banana plantations and other horticulture crops in Payalaseema and a few parts of south coastal Andhra districts.

The IMD said the deep depression (remnant of cyclonic storm Mandous) over north Tamil Nadu weakened into a depression and further into a well-marked low pressure area over north interior Tamil Nadu neighbourhood.
