Exotic fruit shipments to Amur surge, while several regions report pest findings in imported produce

From January to 27 November 2025, over 1,200 samples of exotic fruits imported from China were examined in the Amur Region. The assortment included jackfruit, passion fruit, guava, loquat, yangmei, longan, lychee, carambola, mango, pitaya, and papaya.

The samples came from consignments totalling 691.6 tonnes, a 31% increase compared to the same period last year (476 tonnes). No quarantine pests were detected.

On 25 November, a shipment of 12.5 tonnes of fresh mandarins arriving in the Krasnodar Region was found contaminated with brown marmorated stink bug (Halyomorpha halys). The cargo was returned.

On the same day, a 20.5-tonne consignment of plums from Moldova, delivered to the Moscow Region, tested positive for oriental fruit moth (Grapholita molesta). The fruit was fumigated.

A shipment of 1.7 tonnes of zucchini, lettuce, and eggplants from China, arriving in Zabaykalsky Krai, was found contaminated with Thrips palmi. The lot was fully decontaminated. This became the 61st detection of Thrips palmi in Chinese produce since the start of the year, with a cumulative treated/rejected volume of nearly 74 tonnes.

On 28 November, a 5-tonne mixed shipment from China delivered to the Krasnoyarsk Region tested positive for Comstock mealybug in grapes and western flower thrips in zucchini and peppers. All products were treated with approved methods.
