Abrafrutas launched the Frutas do Brasil ESG Seal

The Brazilian Association of Fruit and Derivative Producers and Exporters (Abrafrutas) officially launched the Frutas do Brasil ESG Seal on the 27th in BrasĂlia, marking the country's first certification dedicated to recognizing fruit producers committed to environmental, social, and governance excellence. According to Abrafrutas president Guilherme Coelho, the seal represents a milestone for Brazilian fruit farming, reinforcing long-standing efforts toward sustainability, transparency, and responsible production. Designed to highlight growers and companies that meet rigorous standards, the certification aims to strengthen Brazil's global reputation and respond to growing international demands for traceable, responsibly sourced products.

During the launch ceremony, ESG director Priscilla Nasrallah emphasized that the seal formalizes practices producers have embraced for decades, including efficient resource management, technological investment, and social inclusion. She noted that sustainable agriculture is inseparable from the people who make it possible. The event gathered key national authorities, among them Vice President Geraldo Alckmin, ApexBrasil president Jorge Viana, Embrapa president Silvia Massruhá, and representatives from the Ministry of Agriculture and Codevasf.

Alckmin praised Brazil for pioneering a dedicated ESG seal in fruit production and underscored the nutritional importance of fruit consumption. He also highlighted government efforts to reduce the impact of recent U.S. tariff increases. Viana celebrated the sector's export growth to US$1.2 billion and affirmed that the new seal will further elevate Brazil's image in global markets.
