Morocco has continued to expand its fresh sweet corn exports to Germany for the second consecutive year, according to EastFruit.
In the first nine months of 2025, Moroccan exporters shipped more than 2,000 tons of fresh sweet corn to Germany, valued at USD 3.83 million. This already exceeds the previous record set in 2024 by 18% and is double the volume recorded in 2023.
Morocco's first documented exports of fresh sweet corn to Germany date back to 2012, when 267 tons were delivered. Shipments increased steadily in the years that followed, surpassing 1,500 tons in 2020. Export volumes then declined between 2021 and 2023 before recovering sharply in 2024 to reach a new high.

Historically, Germany has ranked no higher than fourth among Morocco's export destinations, behind the UK, Spain, and the Netherlands. However, in the first nine months of 2025, shipments to Germany were nearly 500 tons higher than those to the Netherlands, putting Germany on track to enter Morocco's top three markets by the end of the year.
Spain remains Germany's largest supplier of fresh sweet corn, though its market share has fallen from 65% in 2020 to 43% in 2024. Morocco holds the second position and has strengthened its place for the second consecutive year. Moroccan sweet corn represented 12% of Germany's imports in 2023, rising to 22% in 2024 and exceeding 30% in the first nine months of 2025. The Netherlands and France also remain important suppliers.

Moroccan shipments peak in April and May, aligning with Germany's highest import demand for sweet corn. During this period, Morocco's market share can reach as high as 60%. Last year also saw shipments from a second harvest in October to December, a pattern not previously observed. If replicated in 2025, Morocco's total exports to Germany could set another record.
Overall, Morocco's fresh sweet corn exports exceeded 20,000 tons for the first time last season, highlighting the country's growing presence in the European market.
