Snow Hardy marks 10 years at Prevar

This year marks 10 years at Prevar for Snow Hardy, who joined the company in 2015 as Commercial Manager, bringing deep industry experience from previous roles in the horticulture sector. He was tasked with leading the global commercialisation of new apple and pear cultivars developed through The Bioeconomy Science Institute's (formerly Plant & Food Research) world-class breeding programme.

Snow's strategic vision, global network, and commercial acumen have been instrumental in positioning Prevar as a leader in premium pipfruit innovation, and his passion for horticulture continues to make a lasting impact across the Prevar network.

"It's been a real privilege to help take these New Zealand-bred apples and pears to the world. I'm proud of what we've achieved — and excited about what's still to come," said Snow.

Cultivar Commercialisation and Innovation Pipeline
Snow played a key role in the early commercialisation of Dazzle™ and PIQA® — cultivars that helped establish Prevar's global reputation. More recently, he has led the commercial licensing of Sassy™, Posh™, GoodnessMe®, and Joli™ — four exciting new cultivars with strong market potential.

Snow continues to drive the innovation pipeline forward, with further promising selections under evaluation and in pre-commercial trials. He is passionate about maximising the full value of these cultivars for the benefit of the industry.

Global Reach and Strategic Partnerships
Prevar's cultivars are now grown across the globe — including New Zealand, Australia, the United States, and Europe. Snow has been central to establishing and managing Prevar's global partnerships, building and nurturing a network of licensees and marketers who promote and grow cultivars to the highest standards. All whilst navigating complex international IP frameworks and balancing grower profitability with consumer appeal in a highly competitive global fruit market.

"Over the past decade, Snow has played an instrumental role in bringing innovative, New Zealand-bred apple and pear varieties to markets around the world — helping to grow the reach and reputation of our IP portfolio. Congratulations on achieving this milestone, Snow, and here's to the next chapter of growth and innovation for Prevar, our global partners, and the industry." — Tony Martin, Chief Executive.
