In autumn, Abkhazia, a region of Georgia, significantly increased its lemon exports to Russia, more than doubling shipments compared to the same period in 2024. According to the State Customs Committee of the region, 196 tonnes of lemons were exported to Russia since the start of the citrus season, up from 85 tonnes a year earlier.
Mandarin exports also rose. Since the beginning of the season, 4,300 tonnes of mandarins have been shipped to Russia, an increase of 716 tonnes compared to last year. The Ministry of Agriculture of Abkhazia (Georgia) forecasts that about 33,000 tonnes of mandarins will be exported by the end of the season, which runs through March.
Other exports also grew: 1,014 tonnes of feijoa were shipped, compared with 887 tonnes in 2024. Persimmon exports amounted to 176 tonnes, slightly down from 178 tonnes last year.
