Russian plant quarantine authorities conducted inspections of imported fruits and vegetables in several regions in late October and early November 2025.
Chelyabinsk Region
61 vehicles carrying approximately 1,100 tonnes of fruits and vegetables from Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, China, Uzbekistan, and Iran were inspected at the Bugristoye checkpoint.
Violations were found in three vehicles due to missing or incomplete phytosanitary certificates. All shipments that violated the terms were returned; the remaining vehicles proceeded to their destinations.
Kurgan Region
49 vehicles carrying about 1,000 tonnes of fruits and vegetables were inspected at the Petukhovo checkpoint. Cargo included:
- 720 tonnes of onions (Kazakhstan)
- 91 tonnes of mandarins (China)
- 11 tonnes of grapes (Kazakhstan)
One vehicle carrying 22 tonnes of onions lacked proper labelling and was returned; the other shipments were cleared.
Moscow Region
A shipment of 20.4 tonnes of mandarins from Turkey was found to contain Mediterranean fruit fly (Ceratitis capitata) and was blocked and later disinfected.
Kaliningrad Region
19.5 tonnes of tomatoes from Turkey contained South American tomato pinworm and were blocked for quarantine treatment.
Around 100 tonnes of persimmons from Uzbekistan and Azerbaijan were inspected; no pests were detected, and the products were cleared.
Samara Region
9 tonnes of tomatoes from Turkmenistan were found infected with Tomato brown rugose fruit virus (ToBRFV) and were blocked and returned.
Buryatia
Inspections of citrus fruits at wholesale and retail points identified red scale (Aonidiella aurantii) in lemons from Argentina and oranges from South Africa. Affected fruits were removed and destroyed.
Kirov Region
35.4 tonnes of berries from Kyrgyzstan were inspected, including 0.3 tonnes of raspberries and 4.1 tonnes of strawberries. No quarantine pests were found, and the products were cleared. Import volumes were 8 times higher than in the same period in 2024.
