DP World handled 60 per cent of Peru's avocado exports through the Port of Callao during the 2025 season, strengthening the port's role as the country's primary gateway for fresh produce. Between January and September, the company's South Pier Terminal moved 22,600 TEUs of avocados, a record volume for the operation.
In total, DP World managed US$438.3 million worth of avocado exports on an FOB basis, the majority share of the US$736.8 million in exports that passed through Callao during the 2025 season.

Peru has reinforced its position as the world's second-largest exporter of avocados, behind Mexico, supported by steady global demand and improvements in logistics. According to ProHass, national avocado exports reached 690,000 metric tons in 2025, an increase of 37 per cent compared with the previous season.
The Port of Callao remains central to Peru's avocado export supply chain. In 2024, 32,400 TEUs of avocados passed through the port, half of which were handled by DP World. By late September 2025, avocado throughput at Callao had risen to 37,678 TEUs, with DP World again handling the majority share.
Regarding the movement of Peruvian avocados to overseas markets, Carlos Merino, CEO for DP World in Peru, Ecuador, and Colombia, said the results "reaffirm Callao's leadership as a key logistics center for the export of Peruvian avocados to international markets."
Export destinations for Peruvian avocados in 2025 were led by Europe at 67.5 per cent, followed by North America at 15.35 per cent, South America at 7.75 per cent, Asia at 7.71 per cent, Central America at 1.28 per cent, and Africa at 0.40 per cent.
Beyond maritime logistics, DP World recently began coordinating dedicated air cargo operations for fresh produce. Last month, the company managed its first charter flights carrying more than 400 tons of freshly harvested blueberries from Chiclayo and Trujillo to New York. This marks its entry into air freight handling in Peru, combining cold-chain management, freight forwarding, and value-added services for exporters.
With expanded handling capacity across ocean and air channels, DP World continues to play a role in connecting Peruvian agricultural exporters with international markets.
